Age Concern Otago promotes wellbeing, rights, respect and dignity for Otago's older people.
Description
We are looking for assistants capable of supporting a tutor for our Introduction to Smartphones to Seniors to increase their digital literacy.
This role is a fantastic role to support seniors in our community to increase their digital literacy.
You will be empathetic and paitent and able to work with seniors on their smartphones to have basic IT knowledge. The assistant role would be to support the tutor facilitating the course which is four weekly, 2 hour sessions per course.
There is also an opportunity to assist people on a one-on-one basis at our Silver Tech drop-in sessions with further dates to be confirmed.
Role is located in Dunedin, South Dunedin and Mosgiel.
Silver Tech classes are limited to 8 people. Drop-in is one-on-one.
Requirements
Potential volunteers should have the following:
Reasonable IT knowledge
Able to communicate knowledge to others effectively
Friendly, good sense of humour and able to relate to seniors
Excellent patience and ability to adjust your teaching style and subject matter to suit the audience
Time commitment
Commit to deliver the four sessions at two hours each over a four week period.
This is a pilot project so long-term commitments are welcome.
