Organisation

Meat the Need

Purpose

Meat the Need was established in 2020 with a mission to ensure no one in New Zealand goes hungry or unnourished. They connect the dots between farmers who want to donate some of what they produce and families in need.

Description

Produce, in the form of premium mince and milk, is donated by farmers and put into the hands of those already on the frontlines of food insecurity in NZ: food banks and community organisations. Food banks already know the needs of their local community, and it’s through them that mince and milk is given to families that need it.

This exciting Volunteer Champion role offers the opportunity to build awareness, foster connections, and network with community organisations, farmers, and key rural industry groups. As a Volunteer Champion, you'll be acting as a brand ambassador to help spread the vision and goals of Meat the Need in your local community.

You'll share their passion about the opportunity for all New Zealanders to have access to our country's quality, nutritious protein and believe the primary sector can play an important role in helping to feed New Zealand families in need.

As a Volunteer Champion you will:

  • actively pursue and support fundraising events/initiatives in your area.

  • represent Meat the Need charity at industry events and other relevant gatherings for promotion opportunities.

  • connect and network with local key stakeholders including sponsors, farmers and food banks.

Meat the Need provide a full induction, detailed information, resources, and continuous support throughout your journey with them.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and communicate the Meat the Need vision.

  • Committed and reliable.

  • A self starter with the skills to initiate activities that promote and fundraise for Meat the Need within the community.

Time commitment

  • There are no specified time commitments for this role, however it is estimated that Volunteer Champions may be spending up to 15 hours per quarter.

  • They appreciate your time and commitment and recognise certain times of the year can be busier than others. Please advise if there are specific times that you would not be able to commit to.
