What is the structure of the Emerging Leaders Programme?
The Emerging Leaders Programme is a two-stage initiative, separated into 1) achievement of individual Categories, and 2) the Emerging Leaders Award. The programme is currently in its Pilot Phase, and the participation of each student at this stage will be instrumental in refining this strategically significant initiative.
1) Achieve Individual Categories
Students can complete individual categories. There are 9 categories that reflect common contexts in which students participate outside of their formal studies. There is no expectation for how many categories a student needs to complete - this could be 1, 3, or all 9!
What does successful completion of a category involve?
Each category has a value of 60 points.
a minimum of 30 Activity Hours* (30 points)
providing evidence of Activity Hours (10 points)
a reflection portfolio (10 points)
brief feedback on your Emerging Leaders Programme experience (10 points)
*training hours are excluded from Activity Hours
2) Achieving the Emerging Leaders Award
Striving for the Emerging Leaders Award allows students to gain a well-rounded and comprehensive experience beyond their academic studies.
By completing at least 4 categories, including the compulsory Career Development category, students demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth. This award not only recognises their dedication to developing a diverse skill set but also highlights their leadership potential and readiness to make a positive impact in their future careers and communities. .
Any individual Categories can go towards the Emerging Leaders Award.
To receive the Emerging Leaders Award, a student will have completed the following:
4 individual categories or more (1 of these must be the Career Development category)
Attendance at 3 approved learning opportunities
How are my achievements recognised?
At the completion of individual Categories, and once your workflow has been reviewed, your achievements will be recognised with a digital badge that you can share with your networks e.g. via LinkedIn
