Purpose
Dunedin RDA is a not-for-profit organisation whos core purpose is to improve confidence, independence and wellbeing for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs, through therapeutic horse riding & horse care.
Description
Dunedin Riding for the Disabled (DRDA) owns a 3.6ha property which has a driveway, paddocks and several buildings including an office, teaching room, parents’ room, storage and stabling.
As a General Maintenance Volunteer, you will:
trim weeds and grasses around riding area, banks, driveway, and lawn.
pull weeds out from around the buildings.
keep things looking tidy and presentable!
access and maintain the tool-shed (building up the tool supply as required)

You will be supporting DRDA by helping to maintain and improve the infrastructure that is required to provide a safe environment where people with a disability or specific needs/challenges can improve their confidence, independence, and wellbeing through the experience of therapeutic horse riding and horse care.

You will have the satisfaction of helping a busy crew who, while they are supportive, often lack the time to get everything done - they will appreciate your help!
Requirements
The role is suited to someone who enjoys spending time outdoors and has the following skills:
Self-directed and happy to take initiative.
Ability to use and maintain a battery powered push mower and weed whacker.
Confidence on a ladder - to check the roofs and gutters.
Skills for a variety of jobs from minor repairs to painting, fencing plumbing etc.
While there is a general maintenance programme the ability to identify ways to improve the facility is an advantage.
Time commitment
The time commitment is variable and depends on what work is required. The hours can suit your schedule.
