The Valley Project is a community-led development project that builds community connections and promotes the wellbeing of local families and whānau. ​​Their vision is of an inclusive, connected and thriving community. Description

Support the Valley Project to optimize their social media presence and expand engagement across multiple platforms to better engage the community. Work with them to develop a practical social media strategy & crisis plan, and build their comms capability!

As a Social Media Specialist you will be:

  • Supporting staff to develop guidelines & tools to optimize social media presence

  • Optimizing the programme of content & engagement across diverse communities & platforms

  • Using your expertise to establish a social media crisis plan & procedures for managing risk
    (Specifically online reputational communications risk)

  • Using your communications & brand management experience to develop key messages
    (On-brand responses that promote responsible social media engagement and reputation)

  • Using your knowledge of diverse platforms and engagement best practice

  • Developing a practical social media strategy which the team can put into action

  • Identifying content creation tools that enhance community engagement via positive action

  • Sharing expertise, providing hands-on training to the team, strengthening their capability
    (Creating engaging content including videography)

  • Assisting the team to maximize use & application of existing content management platforms

Training and Support provided:

  • You will receive a full organisational induction/orientation

Requirements

  • Passionate about inspiring positive action & community engagement via social media platforms

  • 5+ Yrs of successful social media management, communications or digital content experience

  • Enjoy telling stories and creating content, including skills in creating online videos or reels

  • Deep knowledge of social platforms (including Facebook/Meta Business Suite, Instagram, TikTok
    (And social scheduling and tracking tools)

  • Ability to provide high-quality strategic communications advice and work collaboratively with others

  • Relevant communications and pubic relations experience
    (Dealing effectively with responses to reputational risk or an online comms crisis)

  • Identify tools and platforms that the team can use to enhance their social media communications

  • Ability to train others to effectively use diverse platforms and technologies
    (Creating inviting and engaging content and telling community stories)

  • Experience developing content that increases influence and impact

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Time commitment

  • Minimum of 3 hours per week for approximately 10 weeks
    (Duration and hours can be flexible depending on the availability of the preferred candidate)
