Be Heard Tamariki Counselling

Purpose

Be Heard! is a not-for-profit organisation designed to offer free one-to-one counselling at primary and intermediate schools across Dunedin. Mental health challenges can present in various ways and to varying degrees. Therefore, Be Heard! strive to simplify and reduce the criteria, referral process, and lengthy wait times, by making access to mental health support quicker, easier, and less distressing.

Description

As a Donation Box Distributor you will be assisting Be Heard! to provide its professional and confidential services to tamariki on school grounds, to ensure the effortless usability of services for families within a familiar environment. Be Heard! provides trained and experienced counsellors to work with children. Be Heard! currently have 25 donation boxes that they would like distributed to businesses.

As a Donation Box Distributor you will:

• Use your fabulous personality to ask businesses to host Be Heard! donation boxes boxes on their counters

• Act as a marketing representative for this fundraising initiative, so that counselling services will continue to be delivered to tamariki

• Use your warm approachable personality and effective communication skills to promote Be Heard! and answer any questions

• Potentially deliver the donation boxes to the businesses

Training Provided:

• You will be provided with a brief orientation on Be Heard! Tamariki Counselling's services
  (so you are familiar with Be Heard! services and confidently promote these to businesses out in the community)

Benefits of the Role:

• You will be the public face of the organisation out in the community

• You will be supporting the health and wellbeing of tamariki by ensuring they can receive accessible quality counselling

Requirements

1. Initial orientation

2. Able to select potentially suitable businesses to approach about hosting donation boxes

3. Able to contact/phone businesses or approach in person

4. Able to communicate the Be Heard! mission and operations to those who haven’t heard

Time commitment

1-2 days (enough time to locate supportive businesses willing to host donation boxes an then potentially deliver these boxes)
