Purpose
GirlGuiding NZ is a non-profit organisation where girls can be girls. This is where they will discover their passions, contribute to their communities and form friendships in a safe and positive environment. GirlGuiding NZ offer a non-competitive learning environment which is open-minded and values-based. It’s also a supportive place to grow confident, adventurous girls who are ready to be tomorrow’s leaders.
Description
GirlGuiding NZ aim to empower girls to take action to change their world. They do this by using fun, adventure and friendship to build their confidence and life skills. They want more good people to come and do great things with them. Join their passionate and supportive team in a well-established, long-standing organisation with growth potential.
Currently they are looking for Pippins and/or Brownies' Youth Leaders for Grants Braes. In addition they are also looking for Youth Leaders for the Ōpoho Guides in North Dunedin.
As either a Guides, Pippins or Brownies Youth Leader you will be:
Helping to fulfil GGNZ's mission to empower girls to take action and change their world
Using fun, adventure and friendship to build girls confidence and life skills
Attending in person weekly sessions
Helping to plan the term's activities and then help deliver these activities to the girls
Completing additional/occasional evening and/or weekend training as required
Attend occasional leader and planning meetings, trips and camps
Training provided:
While there is no experience needed, they do require reliable volunteers
Previous experience working with youth is an advantage
The successful candidate would need to be prepared to obtain their Leadership Qualification
In time the successful candidate would also need to learn, or share, in the running of the unit
GirlGuiding NZ's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult to child ratios

Requirements
As a volunteer you will:
Be required to be older than 18 years of age
Have a passion to inspire girls & young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
Be encouraging, assertive and patient
Be a hands-on leader and learner
Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network
During the school term our GGNZ leaders:
Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
Helping plan the term's activities and deliver them to the girls
Complete occasional evening / weekend training as required
Attend occasional leader / planning meetings, and trips or camps
Time commitment
Grants Braes Brownies:
Located in Waverley, Dunedin, you will be supporting girls aged between 7 1/2 -9 1/2 years old
Grants Brae Brownies meet Mondays 6:00pm - 7.30pm term-time only on weeknights
Time required to participate in the odd camp or activity on a weekend
Grants Braes Pippins:
Meet on Mondays from 4:00pm - 5:30pm during school term time
You will be supporting girls aged between 5 - 6 years old
Extra hours will be needed when planning to do an event or camp which happens on the occasional weekend
Ōpoho Guides North Dunedin:
Ōpoho Guides meet on Monday's from 6:15pm - 7:45pm during school term time
You will be supporting Girl Guides aged between 9 - 12.5 yrs old
There will be the occasional extra times required when planning an event or a camp which would be held on a weekend
Three is a minimum six month commitment requirement of all roles, so please consider this when applying.
