Purpose

The Mornington Playcentre is a parent-led community. It is the heart of early childhood play and learning for children from birth to six years.

Description

Do you find joy in the serenity of gardening and have a knack for nurturing plants to their fullest bloom? Mornington Playcentre is calling for a garden enthusiast to bring their gardens back to life and help maintain the beauty of the Playcentre!

While their volunteers are cherished for their varied contributions, they understand that not everyone may want to engage directly with the children. This is why the role of volunteer Gardener can be tailored to your comfort level. If your passion is purely for the soil and seeds, then your dedication to maintaining the gardens is a gift in itself.

As a Playcentre Gardener you will be:

  • Revitalising and upkeeping the Playcentre's existing garden spaces

  • Performing basic gardening activities such as weeding, planting and pruning
(You don’t have to be an expert gardener, just someone who loves gardening)

  • Gardening during hours that suit your schedule

  • Having a chance to contribute to the community in a meaningful and tranquil way

  • Helping to keep the warm, friendly, vibrant Playcentre and its 2 large outdoor play spaces looking great

Optional Child Engagement:

  • While there's no requirement to interact with children, there is an opportunity for those who wish to share their gardening passion

  • When interacting with children it’s completely your choice whether you engage in this aspect of the role

  • Direct involvement with the children during Playcentre hours requires a police check
(to ensure a safe and secure environment for little ones)

What's in it for Volunteers?

  • The knowledge that your help with their garden is valued, as it enhances the beauty of the Children's learning environment

  • You will be helping them to achieve their primary goal to help their gardens thrive

If you are ready to help their gardens grow, and possibly sow seeds of knowledge about nature’s wonders in young minds, they would love to hear from you!
