Youth Worker - Rock Solid
Organisation
Rock Solid (The Straight Up Trust)
Purpose
Providing positive youth mentoring and youth development programmes to families in Southern Dunedin since 2002.
Description
Do you love fun and enjoy supporting youth? If so, assist the Straight Up Trust's Youth Workers & other Volunteers to run a Youth Club every Monday evening (for High School students) or every Wednesday evening (for Intermediate age students)!
The Straight Up Trust is a charitable non-profit organisation based in South Dunedin and Brockville. They have been working with youth and families in the southern areas of Dunedin for over 20 years. They want to create a safe, non-judgemental relational space where young people feel loved and accepted, and are able to explore life values and grow.
Their aproach is to:
Be Youth Focused
Run Youth Clubs that are fun (Sports, Camps, Small Groups)
Use Mentoring and Role Modelling
Build relationships
Walk alongside a young person
Build connections that are developed over time through trust
Use your skills and experience to:
Help to run various fun activities & games (activity based learning - games with a point)
Build relationships with the young people
If possible, appropriate & approved, build a mentoring-type relationship with a young person
There is also the opportunity to participate in 3 weekend camps per year
Volunteers can feel good in knowing that they are using their skills and talents to help build stronger communities by supporting youth. Through this activity you will be a catalyst for transformational change. So get involved with Straight Up Trust!
