Description
Are you an outdoor enthusiast looking to gain experience working with young people? Otago Girls’ High School is seeking 6 keen volunteers to support teachers on outdoor excursions such as mountain biking, tramping, and rock climbing (all led by qualified experts) to meet student to adult ratios and transport students in school vans.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist teachers with student supervision to meet adult ratios
- Drive school vans for off site trips (full driver’s license required)
- Support students in outdoor activities and encourage participation

Training/support offered: Driver insurance on school vans, professional feedback and resources for those interested in teaching.
Requirements
Volunteers will be interviewed
Over 18 years
Full drivers license
Positive, patient and encouraging with young people (age 15-18)
Enjoys being outdoors and physically active
Police vetting required (working with young people)
Time Commitment
Hours and days vary depending on the teachers timetable and whether the class is going on an excursion or not. Shifts are generally for one class period (1 hour) and this could be up to 4 times a week (eg. helping different teachers on different days), depending on the volunteers study timetable and the teachers class timetable.
