Description
The Dunedin Gasworks Museum is a small industrial history museum based on the site of New Zealand's oldest gasworks, in South Dunedin. It is one of only three known preserved gasworks museums in the world, and is a significant local and world heritage site.
They have a magnificent collections of Victorian era steam pumping engines, which they sometimes run. On steaming days, you will be there to help their Boiler Operator make sure that everything is running smoothly.
As Operations Assistant, you will:
Perform the main objective: to provide additional safety support to the main Boiler Operator
This role will require that you occasionally performing safety checks
With sufficient training, you could even progress to become a boiler operator and run the engines yourself!
Training and Skills:
Train as you go (all training, and an initial induction, is supplied by experienced staff - they'll show you what to do!)
Boiler awareness safety training

Complete Boiler Awareness Safety Training
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
Usually Sundays, once a month would be the normal frequency. Some times there will be special events.
