Purpose
Be Heard! is a not-for-profit organisation designed to offer free one-to-one counselling at primary and intermediate schools across Dunedin. Mental health challenges can present in various ways and to varying degrees. Therefore, Be Heard! strive to simplify and reduce the criteria, referral process, and lengthy wait times, by making access to mental health support quicker, easier, and less distressing.
Description
Use your passion for youth mental health and wellbeing as a Street Appeal Collector for Be Heard! and help them to bring about positive change in the community through their tamariki oriented mental health services. Collectors are needed across Dunedin and Mosgiel on the 28th of March between 10 AM and 4 PM.
Core responsibilities include:
Standing/sitting in a public place for 2 hours
Interacting with the public
Receiving donations
Volunteers will gain:
Experience being the public face of an organisation that promotes children's mental health and wellbeing
The knowledge that your helping Be Heard! to deliver its much needed counselling services
Appreciation, in assisting the Trust in its vital work to support the lives of tamariki
The awareness that you are helping to normalise mental health and wellbeing
Requirements
Orientation
Availability on the 28th March
Ability to sit/stand for 2 hours
Friendly, enthusiastic and approachable
Honest and reliable
Time commitment
They have 2 hour shifts at several locations available around central Dunedin.
